As with all the wines in this cellar the terroir, the imprint of the soil and the season are on display for all to see. Here there is a grit to the tannins, they aren't course but not as pliant as the other two. Its core is a little less giving as well. It comes across as a little raw, but in a thoroughly delicious sense of the word. The fruit is tart, red and blue, snappy and with admirable punch. Reminded me a little of biting into early season cherries and hitting the pit. Vibrant, upbeat, it really engages your palate and sets your taste buds off. This is a brilliant choice for the table over the coming three to five years. Yeah, ripper wine that is packed with equal measures of pleasure and personality. Lovely stuff. ROSCOE
From parcels in the pink granite soils of lieux-dits Les Braves and Oeillat, Thévenet's 2018 Régnié offers up aromas of red berries, licorice and plums. It's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a fine-boned, elegant profile, attractive purity of fruit and a perfumed finish. WILLIAM KELLEY
