A sleeping giant! Incredibly complex structure with enormous earthy depth, the sweet fruit really coming through in the spectacular finish. Wild energy! Long term stuff, but the aftertaste is incredible. (98) JAMES SUCKLING

SWEET SPOT - A pungent nose of wood toast and reduction dominate the nose. More interesting are the fresh and vibrant broad-shouldered flavors that possess both excellent volume and delineation while delivering impressively length on the powerful, youthfully austere, firm and very serious finale. This is excellent and like all good examples of Corton, very much built-to-age. BURGHOUND

FIVE STARS - A brilliant intense purple. Immediately on the nose there is a nobility over and above anything else in the cellar. The fruit swells across the palate without losing its sense of identity. There is an equilibrium from perfect structure backing this intensity of fruit. Harmonious structure, well integrated oak and impressive length. JASPER MORRIS MW

WORTH A SPECIAL SEARCH - Hmm, a more direct perfume than the width of the Cazetiers – and perfume it is! Again such a wonderful fluidity to these flavours – it’s like trying 2019s – this fluidity amply balancing impressive concentration. The barrel – 50% new and quite creamy – is strong with this one but there’s an intensity and almost zestiness to this finishing fruit flavour too – it still manages to dominate the barrel – this wine will live and be great much longer than I – wait 10 years in the first instance but there will be greatness with 25 !! BILL NANSON

The 2022 Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru has a potent nose: think of grandmother's potpourri you smelled in her old house. It almost overwhelms that red fruit behind it. The palate is well-balanced with pure red cherry, wild strawberry, and finely-knit tannins. It’s one of the more elegant Cortons tasted with a touch of piquancy on the finish. Delightful. NEAL MARTIN
