Details

Vacqueyras 2021 is a blend of Syrah (41%), Grenache (36%) and Mourvèdre (23%) . The age of the vines is 62 years for Grenache, 29 years for Mourvèdre and 18 years for Syrah. The manual harvest is sorted then partially destemmed (56%) and lightly crushed. Fermentation lasts 30 days with daily pumping over and punching down. The wine is aged in barrels ( 65% in total ; 73% in demi-muids of 4 to 10 wines and 27% in barrels of 4 wines) and in concrete eggs (35%). The 2021 Vacqueyras is classically proportioned — dark fruit, thyme and mineral notes framed by savoury structure. Traditional winemaking in cement and large oak gives shape without gloss. A quietly powerful southern Rhône red.
