A more elegant and cooler nose freely offers up more floral-suffused aromas of mostly red currant and discreet spice nuances. Here too the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is rich, succulent and generous…BURGHOUND

As ever this Volnay from the old vine vineyard Grands Poisot bares the stamp of the commune and if you ever want to understand what that is then buy this wine. The vintage has accentuated the red fruits and delicate florals flowing over limestone minerality and the backbeat of spice. It's classic Volnay. The palate - again in keeping with the vintage - is more open and pliant. It's red and blueish fruits and a supple texture and gentle spice form supporting oak. Finishes with a moreish delicate supporting tannin profile tannin, some oak-derived and some fruit. Gorgeous. The mid-week-to-serious-dinner party village Burgundy it is! MICHAEL MCNAMARA
