OUTSTANDING - A brooding and reticent nose features liqueur-like aromas of poached plum, cassis and cool earth. The delicious, intense and overtly stony middle weight plus flavors flashed focused power on the firm, compact and tightly wound finale. Patience strongly recommended. BURGHOUND

One of the high points of the range is the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens-Hauts, a medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy wine evocative of raspberries, plums, sweet spices and orange rind. It's a soft, charming rendition of this site, which delivers a more linear, ethereal style than the stereotypical muscularity of Rugiens-Bas. WILLIAM KELLEY
