Ravensworth The Grainery 2022
DOZEN: $550.80 or $45.90 each
Viognier, roussanne, marsanne. A medium weight and exciting white wine for its compelling some of parts. Slipperiness, a little grip, fragrance, stone fruits, oatmeal, lively acidity, baked pears, cashew nuts. All happening, all so well balanced and evenly spread. It drinks with utter charm and a sense of quiet complexity. Great now, but I reckon cellaring works too. - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
The 2022 The Grainery comprises estate-grown Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne. The wine was matured for a year in 600-liter demi-muids, then a second year in 2,000-liter foudres. Aromatically, the Viognier sits astride the other varieties, with pressed white flowers, apricot kernel, white pepper and layers of sandalwood incense, seeds and apple cider vinegar, white pineapple and beeswax. There exists little glimpses of white chocolate and fennel too. On the palate, the wine is wide and textural, with bright acidity that spears through the hearts of the three varieties and laces them together with ligaments of freshness. This is an engaging, exciting wine to drink. The style may polarize, but I like how it's been handled. 12.8% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. - Erin Larkin - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
