The swansong vintage for DL (for David Lloyd) Vineyard Pinot as they no longer have access to the grapes. I wonder how Eldridge Estate is getting along these days, after DL sold the farm some time ago? This was picked early April, 30% whole bunches, 20% new oak.
Cherry, almond, a fair bit of exotic spice, a subtle mint and floral perfume. It's medium-bodied, spicy and red fruited, some squishy cherry flavour too, the tannin is very pleasing - a bit ferrous, offering fine but insistent grip - with a juicy and spicy finish of fine length. Lovely wine. GARY WALSH
