Like a baby Brunello. Power and grace, finesse and tension. Dark cherry, game meat, truffle, blood orange freshness and tang with sage leaf, salt bush, pepper and a grunt and grip of gravelly tannin that stretches long and firming and fine. An excellent Rosso di Montalcino with some dried-meat and new-leather savoriness to the aromas of orange peel, dried strawberry and a hint of tar. This is a tight, full-bodied Rosso with juicy berries that stay around in the palate. Sangiovese. From organically grown grapes. Lovely now, but can hold, too. JAMES SUCKLING
