Wow! What a cracking wine. Its not every day you get such a bang on example from a region like Bierzo at this price. The 'Petit Pittacum' is made from 100% Mencia grape from small plots of organically grown 90 year old vines situated in the foothills of the mountain range that makes up the Bierzo region. If you have never tried these wines before this a the perfect place to start.
It hits you with fresh crushed black raspberry, blackberry and glace cherries that give way to a little back pepper spice and beguiling mineral notes. Its wonderfully expressive with an explosion of red berry fruits, juicy and bright, just bursting with flavour, lingering long after you have taken your first sip. In true mencia style there is vein of minerality that relays a fresh snap to the palate and charges the fruit. Cracking gear.
