Medium-full yellow; rather quiet and reserved on the nose at first, likewise in the mouth, where it is firm and tense with a little astringency from acidity and tannin, almost a hardness; the overall feel is that it is locked up and needs more time to emerge fully. There is a quiet intensity, struggling to get out of its shell. It has serious concentration and a sense of more to come. This really blossomed with time exposed to air, revealing itself as a most complete and seamless chardonnay. It deserves a good aeration if drinking now. (96) HUON HOOKE, the realreview.com.au
