Gold - 2024 James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge
Joint Winner - Chardonnay of the Year, Tyson Stezler

Sourced from just nine rows of almost 40-year-old vines, this cool, late-ripening and low-yielding vintage has produced a spectacularly refined and enduring result that proves that the magnificent 2022 was no one-off. Racy lemon, grapefruit and tangy white peach present a mesmerising contrast of concentration and tension of grand cru proportions, set off with crystalline acidity and perfectly harmonious French oak. Stunning! (97) TYSON STELZER

This limited-production bottling is made from Paringa Estate's oldest vines - just nine rows, aged almost 40 years. White peach and citrus aromas with just a hint of buttery shortbread. Richness on the structured palate is countered by racy acidity, driving towards a long and zingy finish. Layers of fresh lemon citrus, grapefruit zest and a hint of lemon tart are all still tightly coiled at the moment; there's promise of much more to come with time in the cellar. DECANTER

The 2023 The Paringa Single Vineyard Chardonnay is highly aromatic, and the palate matches with an intense score of fruit, spice, saline acidity and fine phenolic structure. This lingers and curls across the palate and streaks out to the long finish. It has penetrating flavor and is really good-unreal, in fact. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. ERIN LARKIN
