Light on the fizz (there is no fizz…) so you can slam it down fast.
This is a thirst quencher. All white stone fruit, green apple, flowers and a lively dash of fresh mint. Yum! There is more weight here than you may expect, has some lovely punch to the flavours and a nice, even keeled, well rounded and ease to it. From the first big sip its all pleasure. Bits and pieces of minerality and a furry, peach skin feel that adds an extra sense of playfulness. Plenty of enjoyment built in. The wine serves to both enliven and satisfy with its wonderfully fresh, summer fruit and wild herb characters that mingle nicely with the perky acidity.
Turns out One Litre is just the right size for the esky…
Also turns out that One Litre of Riesling is the perfect amount to start with, Two Litres is just the right volume to sit on a rug with some nibbles and a few mates in the sunshine.
This is most definitely not for your cellar. A handful of years ago I came across another Gutswein of similar quality and it became my go to summer drink, a seemingly ever present vinous companion that year. I see it happening again here. Just so damn good, equally fun, and totally enjoyable. Drink up buttercup. ROSCOE
