  1. Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache 2019
    Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache 2019
The estate's efforts across the respective grenache cuvees are almost as venerable as those across the very fine expressions of viognier. This, a thirst-slaking red, is worth celebrating for its youthful primary fruit: cranberry, cumquat and cherry bonbon. Yet, most impressive are the saline, slaty tannins that been massaged into the fray with aplomb, helping to imbue poise while curtailing the ripeness of fruit. NED GOODWIN MW, James Halliday's Wine Companion

Sourced from very old bush vines (some dating back to 1929) which add both depth of fruit and phenolic impact, lending the wine some subtle gravitas. Lovely, so primary it's almost juicy, lifted with elements of spice that slides in to grilled meats. Beautifully textured, vibrant and inviting. Lovely, did I say that already? There is structure and heft here too but it only adds to the overall sensuality of the wine. We all tasted this and asked how much. When we heard the price we jumped on it. Yalumba are masters at the craft and this is ludicrously good for the money. The ideal mid-week wine with so much going for it that it embarrasses a lot of other wines in a similar price range. 2. Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache 2022
    Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache 2022

SPECIAL VALUE - Vine Vale has a solid reputation for producing outstanding grenache. With sandy soils lying in the lee of the eastern range, the fruit produces wines of great perfume, which of course is what the variety is all about. Old vines here (1929 and 1949 plantings) and the glory of whole bunch fermentation on full display. Fragrant and great drinking with supple red cherry, dark plum and raspberry fruits cut with exotic spice, citrus blossom, Campari-esque tones, cola, gingerbread and earth. Savoury and composed with super-powdery tannins and a spicy, red-fruited exit with just a hint of roasting meats. Geez, grenache is great drinking. (95) JAMES HALLIDAY’S WINE COMPANION

Sultry little thing aren’t you! What’s that? What did you say to me? Drink another glass? I can’t, it’s a work night… Are you sure I will feel better if I do? Ok, you convinced me…

Wait, where did the bottle go? Ah Grenache, you tricked me again. I guess I should open a second, it’s still early. A little insight in to my brain.

Seriously?????though, I think bottles of this wine are prone to evaporation. It’s all too alluring with those soaring aromatics, perfumed red berries, some wild herbs, a whisp of mint some underbrush brought to you buy the 20 something percent whole bunch. Shapely and sumptuous wine that is much darker in the mouth where it builds in volume to fill the palate with creamy, sweet, succulent fruit supported by a fine network of tannins with just enough grip to keep things serious but not intrusive. Finishes more savoury and those characters come out to play a little more with some air too.

A wholly and thoroughly convincing rendition of modern Australian Grenache that over delivers in every conceivable way. Well done and thank you Yalumba. ROSCOE
