  1. Gaia Monograph Agiorgitiko 2021
    Gaia Monograph Agiorgitiko 2021
Ktima Gaia was launched in 1994 by agronomist Leon Karatsalos and oenologist Yiannis Paraskevopoulos and has since produced many ground-breaking wines that have defined the current styles. Establishing their Nemea winery in 1997 closely followed by their Santorini facility in 2001, has allowed Leon and Yannis to work fastidiously at their craft and Gaia has grown to become one of the worlds great wine Estates.

The Monogrpah label looks to provide great value Greek wines without some of the fuss and pomp from more expensive bottling and that don't necessarily translate to better wine.

Here the 100% agioritiko is left to shine unencumbered by heavy oak to trick it up. A slightly broody nose leads into a dark fruit, dried plumb and savoury palate. Agioritiko can often come off as heavy and imposing but here its full of crunch and energy. Firm tannins ply the back palate but there is plenty of dark fruit to take it on. Nicely focused and the perfect intro to Greek wines.

  2. Zafeirakis Limniona Young Vines 2019
    Zafeirakis Limniona Young Vines 2019
From vineyards in Tyrnavos, Paleomylos and Kampilaga and from younger vines averaging 20 - 22 years old. Biodynamically certified and fermented in large 3000L & 5000L then transferred to smaller barrels to age. This is soft and easy with a pinot-esk profile and tart red berry fruit to the fore. A nice little leather edging to the bright red fruits and some soft but puckery tannins give it some structure and interest. Cool little wine.
