  1. Doisy Daene 2009
    Doisy Daene 2009

Denis Dubourdieu has provided one of the genuine stars of the vintage with the Chateau Doisy-Daene, two, if you count his Extravagance. This has a very fragrant nose with apple blossom, lime leaf and a touch of honey. Very fresh and lifted...spring-like. The palate is very well balanced, not a powerful Sauternes but ethereally poised and focused, skipping blithely to an animated pear, honeysuckle and apricot finish. Very pretty, very complete and very outstanding. (98) NEAL MARTIN

The last time I tasted the 2009 Doisy-Daëne, I felt it was in a dumb phase. This bottle suggests that it is no longer in that phase! It has a lovely bouquet with honey, white peach, nougat and light marzipan scents, growing in intensity with just a touch of lavender. Wonderful definition. The palate is very well defined with superb concentration, a surfeit of botrytis, tangy marmalade and quince notes with a touch of ginger enlivening the finish. What an outstanding Doisy-Daëne! Tasted at the vertical at Doisy-Daëne. NEAL MARTIN, TASTED 2022

  2. Coutet La Chartreuse de Coutet 2015 375 mL
Coutet La Chartreuse de Coutet 2015 375 mL

Quite a smokey nose but a lot of ripe mango flavors, too. This balances a rich texture and bright acidity very nicely. The finish is long for a second wine. JAMES SUCKLING.

Plenty of botrytis adding marmalade and exotic fruits to the engaging mix of citrus oil, stone fruits and fresh flowers. I feel like there is a little more Sauv Blanc here, than may be typical, due to this exotic, tropical fruit and ginger flower component, I couldn't find the cepage though, so just a guess. It's not overly sweet, but there is enough thickness and viscosity to leave no doubt as to what you are drinking. The acidity plays its all important role in keeping things upbeat, fresh and clean. The finish is impressively long and carried by the sugar while being enlivened by the acid. Excellent and supper value. ROSCOE

  3. Le Tertre du Lys dOr 2019
Le Tertre du Lys dOr 2019

Shimmers medium gold. Vibrant notes of toffee, ginger and baked pineapple aromas waft from the glass. It's still incredibly youthful with touches of honey starting to emerge adding another layer to the luscious palate. Spiced nectarines mix with subtle hints of marmalade and umami notes of white button mushrooms in the mouth, alongside ginger, toffee and apple tarte tatin flavours - it's intriguing and incredibly delicious. The finish is mouthwatering, a trickle of acidity cleanses on its way out. This generously sized bottle of Sauternes should be shared lavishly with friends and a plate of cheese. Don't hesitate here.
