Spinifex Rose Luxe 2023Pete Schell is a bit of a wizz at rosé, here 51/40/9% grenache/mataro/cinsault. I've got an inkling Pete might drink a bit of Bandol rosé, so that should guide you to his winery's style. It's like an extra utensil at the dinner table. Redcurrant, raspberry, watermelon, soft spice, blood orange, dried herbs, savoury, umami, stony, boardshorts, sunhat, seafood, tick. (95) DAVE BROOKS, winecompanion.com
Beautiful rosé. Bone dry. Strawberried and earthen, spicy and direct, with a slip of grape-skin texture and excellent citrus-driven length. Raspberry and blackcurrant bud characters bloom as the wine breathes but its earthen, spicy, stony dryness prevails throughout. In drinking terms it has at least another couple of summers in it. The Story Wines Super G Red Blend 2022It's not heavy but it's so wild with spice and so generally captivating that it's hard to put it down. This is a cracker of a wine. Red and blue berried fruit flavours, black pepper notes, a mezcal aspect and flings of roasted nuts. It's ripe and robust, in a mid-weight way, but the real key here is that it's aflame with roasted spice/pepper notes. Yalumba Vine Vale Grenache 2023From bush vines planted in 1929 and 1949 with some whole bunch in the mix.
Talk about personality. This is bunchy, meaty, floral and more, its light-but-bright fruit completely infiltrated by savouriness and smokiness and general herbal complexities. This wine is drastically dry and tannic in, as far as I'm concerned, the best of ways. It works as a wild ride through the streets of modern Australian grenache. I love it. (95) CAMPBELL MATTINSON

Terre a Terre Crayeres Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Sauvignon Blanc of the Year. Score awarded by the Halliday tasting team at the annual Awards judging. SW writes: Fermented in stainless steel tank (52%) and older oak (48%). Aged on full lees with no battonage. Pineapple, guava, perfectly ripe mango skin and lilikoi. Driving and elegant natural acidity and a wash of juicy tropical fruit with hints of glacé ginger and nutmeg spice. A fuzz of nettle texture and the wine finishes quite full bodied. It's a sauvignon blanc made with care, attention to detail and purity of fruit. (97) WINE COMPANION TASTING PANEL
This must be one of Australia’s top sauvignon blanc wines. And the value is pretty epic. It’s got exceptional energy and persistence, a major feature is the tension in the wine, the torque of powdery pucker and the core of briny minerality. Around this, preserved lemon, a faint ginger lift, almond, attractive parmesan cheese characters, salt bush and gentle white pepper. It’s a compact and yet flavoursome white, refreshing as it is interesting and intellectual for the fanciers of fine sauvignon blanc. Cellar some too. MIKE BENNIE, Wine Front

Tentenublo Xerico Vinaspre Rioja 2017
The 2016 Xerico that we are offering today is an ode to the wines that Roberto's ancestors drank - Rioja without oak maturation. In place of the oak is cement and chestnut foudre's. The other connection with the past is that the wine contains 15% of the white grape Viura whilst the balance is Tempranillo.
Xerico is the name of the soil 'Xeric Torriothent'! This is a carlcareous marl soil from the Tertiary era on eroded slopes.
This wine is from three plots - El Pedrón, La Entrada and La Fuente Colas. The age of the vines range from 15 to 50 years old.
Fermentation is completed with natural yeasts in stainless steel and cement vats to retain freshness and minerality. As I mentioned above this wine doesn't see any oak and is aged for five months in cement vats and chestnut foudres.
Don't think of this as Joven style - it is much more serious.

Aphelion The Confluence Grenache 2023Blewitt Springs fruit off 85-year-old bush vines, fermented with 30% whole bunches, some extended skin contact, raised in puncheons, demi-muids and a 2,400-litre cask. This is all charm, but with a distinctly sophisticated elegance of delivery, with all the expected pops of red fruit – raspberry, red cherry, redcurrant, some pomegranate – conveyed with vibrancy but never confection, florals, white pepper, musk and a hint of orange peel accenting. The tannins are fine, naturally wrought, food friendly and perfectly synched with the medium fruit weight. Just lovely. MARCUS ELLIS winecompanion.com2023GrenacheAustralia436$40.00 As low as $36.00

Jonathan Didier Pabiot Pouilly Fume Leon 2020 375ml
The 2020 Léon is surprisingly tangy and bright for this warm vintage with just 13% alcohol. It's light in body and focused while 12-18 months on lees has provided a sense of roundness and texture to the mid palate as well as a touch of autolysis-derived pastry character to the apple and citrus fruit and lightly floral aromas. Vibrant, fresh and youthful. Best enjoyed in the first three to six years of its life for its energy. REBECCA GIBB, Vinous.com
The former Florilège comes with a new name this year. Predominantly from limestone soils but also silex, the 2020 Pouilly Fumé Léon offers a clear, deep, fresh and spicy, quite complex and iodine bouquet with great precision and mineral intensity. Aged in stainless steel, concrete and 20% oak barrels (228 and 500 liter), this is a rich and round, very elegant and aromatic Pouilly-Fumé with good mineral and fruity freshness and a long, intense and tensioned finish that reveals fine tannins and crisp grip. This is a substantial wine with excellent aging potential. STEPHAN RHEINHARDT, Wine Advocate

Domaine La Soumade Rasteau 2020Andre Romero founded Domaine Soumade in 1979 and is now considered perhaps the finest producer in the region. The village of Rasteau was elevated to AOC status alongside Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas and 2010, and we find that while the styles are similar there is more freshness in Rasteau than the other two. The Cuvee Prestige is a gorgeous wine, made from a classic blend of Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%) and Mourvedre (10%) made with an extensive fermentation and maceration of nearly four weeks to extract colour, favour and tannins, following very gentle maturation in a combination of old 4,000L oak vats (foudres) and concrete tanks. This is a wine with beautiful perfume of violets and lavender, and stacked with the flavour of summer berries. The 2022 Pies Negros is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from Ábalos in the Rioja Alta. Remejeanne Cotes-du-Rhone Blanc Les Chevrefeuilles 2023The nose has a gentle peach aroma, honeysuckle indeed after the wine’s name, with a hint of smoke. The palate is charming from the off, holds squeezy and cosy white fruits with tender progress along the palate, the finale curved. JOHN LIVINGSTONE-LEARMONTH, Drink Rhone
Certified organic. Chèvrefeuilles (pronounced ‘shev-ruh-foy’) is French for honeysuckle, the perfume of which you cannot escape during springtime in the Southern Rhône. Olivier is a sucker for the character and freshness of old-vine Clairette, which now accounts for half the blend in his delightful citrus- and white-plum-scented Les Chèvrefeuilles Blanc, with the remainder made up of 25% Roussanne and 25% Grenache Blanc. Domaine Font de Courtedune Cotes du Rhone Village 2022Regional specificity in the key here, upfront, personable and loaded with charm. It's great drinking and just the right speed for day to day consumption. Red and dark fruits aplenty. Wafts of spice and touches of grit from the tannin. Nice push across the palate where the perky acidity keeps that generosity in check. Hints of dried herbs and flowers appear on the nose and touch the palate from time to time. Really, this is such a lovely wine. A little larger in size than last year's rendition but that's a good thing, adds a little more cuddle. ROSCOE
(On the 2019) Light, fresh raspberry aromas, with a touch of cherry. Fresh and precise. Only medium-bodied, this is very drinkable. A light mineral touch brings further freshness to the finish, which is surprisingly long for a Côtes-du-Rhône. Not overly fat or heavy. This is a steal - a delicious Côtes-du-Rhône. Domaine la Roubine La Grange de Briguieres Sablet 2022
The personality of the maker - generous and jovial - is on full display via black and red fruits while blue florals and the liquorice that jumps out of the glass, give the wine it's aromatic swagger. On the palate too, it's direct; big on flavour and impact with that same red and black fruited attack laying the groundwork for a more complex array of mineral, hung meat, liquorice, dried herbs and smoke. Pretty much like falling head first into a hypothetical vat the Southern Rhone itself. Medium to full bodied with plenty of structure to cope with anything from the bbq to the one-pot wonder.
It's one of the most authentic things I drink each year, capturing the ethos of the fading French country wine in a glass. Rustic, reassuring and ultimately flat out delicious. MICHAEL MCNAMARA, PWS

Hobo Wine Camp Folk Machine Parts and Labour Red 2022This is the second vintage that Grenache has dominated the P&L blend. The 2022 is a blend of Grenache from Mangels Ranch in Suisun Valley, Cedar Lane in Arroyo Seco, and Waddington Ranch in Mendocino, Carignane from Lolonis, Maria Martinson, and Castañon all in Mendocino, and Syrah from Vecino in Potter Valley. There is a good amount of whole cluster and carbonic maceration through the lots keeping everything fresh and fun. As always, the blend was made immediately after harvest and the wine was aged in a combination of French oak foudres and stainless steel tanks.
Oh yum! This is such a joy to drink. A cracking drop here from the legend that is Kenny likitprakong of Hobo. He was telling us that this was his house wine. The one that he has cases of to rip the corks off when mates come round, the BBQ fires up and a long warm weekend is about a kick off and we can see why. This is hard to put down once it's in your glass.
It's all about the red fruits here with fresh picked red cherry and raspberry all vying for position at the front of the pack. Some pretty violet notes swirl around and as this opens up some savoury whole black peppercorn and foresty bits make themselves heard. Its lithe and fresh bursting onto the palate with that core of red berry fruit. Clean and pure just sizzling with energy. A joy to drink and would happily take a brief chill if you were so inclined.
