  1. Salvioni Rosso di Montalcino 2022
    Salvioni Rosso di Montalcino 2022

Rose petals and dried cherries give way to flowery underbrush and savory spice as the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino slowly unwinds in the glass. Pure and lifted in style, this boasts a core of vividly ripe red berry fruits that swirl beneath an air of violet inner florals. Saline mineral tones mount through the close. Blood orange and spice hints linger as the 2022 tapers off long and gently tannic. This leaves the mouth salivating. Frankly, it's hard to just taste and not drink the 2022 Rosso from Salvioni. Delamotte Blanc de Blanc 2014
The 2014 Blanc de Blancs is seriously impressive. Ample in feel, Delamotte is especially rich in 2014, and yet there is plenty of freshness to balance things out. This is an especially savory style for Delamotte, and one that works so well. Dried lemon peel, pastry, almond, dried herbs and chamomile open in a beautifully translucent Blanc des Blancs that marries power and finesse. I can’t wait to see how it ages. ANTONIO GALLONI, vinous

Some width of white flower perfume. Gas that’s adding energy. Rounder and richer but cut by fine acidity and minerality – never austere but properly balanced. That’s a great finish – panoramic, gorgeously delicious and complex – I love this finish! BILL NANSON, The Burgundy Report

  4. Delamotte Blanc de Blanc 2018
    Delamotte Blanc de Blanc 2018
The 2018 Brut Blanc de Blancs is a blend of fruit from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry, six villages in the Côte des Blancs. Crushed rocks, mint, slate, lemon peel and green pear lend notable freshness. Like most wines in this vintage, the Blanc de Blancs is airy and medium-bodied in structure, but it shows lovely tension and fine balance. There's plenty of Delamotte class, in an understated style. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

The Delamotte 2018 Blanc de Blancs is showing well today, evoking a gourmand, complex bouquet of pastry, almonds, ripe orchard fruits, spices and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and chiseled, it’s enveloping and round with a fleshy core of fruit, though not as fleshy as the 2012, concluding with a tense and long finish. 7. Querciabella Camartina 2020
    Querciabella Camartina 2020

The 2020 Camartina is a super-classic edition of this wine. Cabernet Sauvignon drives the blend, but there is also a ton of site character. Readers will have to be patient, as this is very much a wine for the cellar. Strong mineral inflections, black pepper, lavender, mint and licorice add layers of aromatic intrigue. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous.com

Aromas of black and red currants with dried flowers, sandalwood and dark cherries. Medium- to full-bodied with well-integrated tannins that coat and caress the mouth nicely. Shows a focus and modernity. From organically grown grapes. Best in three or four years. JAMES SUCKLING

Mellow and harmonious, offering plum, black currant, blackberry, iron, leather and menthol flavours. Juicy acidity and dusty tannins lift the flavours and guide them to the long conclusion. Fresh and complex on the finish. BRUCE SANDERSON, Wine Spectator

  8. San Filippo Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere 2019
San Filippo Brunello di Montalcino Le Lucere 2019
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino le Lucére is a darkly concentrated wine with black fruit and a very creamy side. There are aromas of coconut butter and vanilla that meet bakery aromas of croissant or pie crust. The oak renderings are significant, but I give it good cellar potential, as it fleshes out, especially because there is plenty of dark primary fruit to give it aging momentum. MONICA LARNER

Black cherry, cedar and dried flowers on the nose follow through to a medium to full body with chewy tannins and a savory finish. Lots of structure. Muscular and wholesome yet there’s a softness and beauty. Better after 2027. JAMES SUCKLING

  9. de Villaine Rully Blanc 1er 2021
de Villaine Rully Blanc 1er 2021
the label has a compass on it to indicate the 6 different 1ers that make up the blend
This is overtly marked by prominent floral elements that combine notes of citrus and various white orchard fruit aromas with that of a whiff of honeysuckle. There is fine mid-palate density to the reasonably well-delineated broad-shouldered flavors that conclude in a bone-dry, very lemony and lingering if definitely compact and chiseled finish that is borderline painfully intense. At least some patience strongly suggested. OUTSTANDING, BURGHOUND

Certified biodynamic. Smells richer and creamier than the Rully Les St-Jacques 2022 but still the freshness of green apple. Super-creamy on the palate, both rounded and fresh. A clever tightrope between two extremes. Intense and elegant. JULIA HARDING

The 2021 Rully 1er Cru is a blend of six Premier Cru vineyards, since de Villaine lost 75% of the crop. It has a light but focused, almost Puligny-like bouquet, with touches of petrichor coming through with time. The palate is quite sapid on the entry. Very lightly spiced, with crisp acidity and a saline finish, this is an intriguing, quite cerebral Rully that will be difficult to resist in its youth. NEAL MARTIN

    William Fevre Chablis Vaudesir 2020
A discreet dollop of wood sets off the ever-so-mildly exotic aromas of white and yellow peach, passion fruit and subtle mineral reduction wisps. There isn't the same weight and density though there is much better refinement to the lightly stony, focused and sneaky long finish. This is a classic Vaudésir that should also reward a decade or so of cellaring. "Don't Miss" BURGHOUND

  13. Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2022
Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2022

WORTH A SPECIAL SEARCH - Almost a little fumé accent to this minerality - slowly opening with floral notes and more overt citrus. Largest scale in the mouth - but fluid and mineral - not a wine of density. The base is of a fine energy. The width of finishing flavour a wave of salinity. That's going to be quite a wine - if you have the time, wait 10 years! Bravo! BILL NANSON

DON'T MISS - A more restrained and equally cool nose grudgingly reveals its aromas of oyster shell, ocean spray, just sliced citrus and wet stone. There is again excellent volume and a sappy texture to the almost painfully intense and overtly powerful larger-bodied flavors that brim with minerality that adds a sense of lift to the compact, dry and sneaky long finish. Like all fine examples of Les Clos, this is clearly going to need at least 6 to 8 years of bottle aging and should amply repay 10 to 12. BURGHOUND

The 2022 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru comes from a single 0.58-hectare parcel located midway up the incline towards Valmur. This expressive bouquet has yellow plum, wet stone and light hazelnut aromas, oddly reminding me of a fine Meursault! The well-balanced palate is taut and fresh, with a fine line of acidity and a malic finish that is more austere than the aromatics suggest. NEAL MARTIN

    Isole E Olena Cepparello 2019
The 2019 Cepparello is super-impressive, even though it has just been bottled. Ample and creamy, with its classic sense of mid-weight structure, the 2019 has so much to offer. Silky tannins wrap around a core of red/purplish berry fruit. New leather, spice and a hint of oak meld together effortlessly in the glass. I can't wait to check in on it in another 6-12 months or so. The 2019 is shaping up to be positively stellar. 97 ANTONIO GALLONI

  17. Casanova di Neri Brunello Tenuta Nuova 2017
Casanova di Neri Brunello Tenuta Nuova 2017
This is one of my all-time favorite Brunellos, and although personal tastes are fluid and may change from time to time, there is something timeless and solid about this wine. It's like a touchstone. The Casanova di Neri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is graced with a similar interlude of elegant rose or crushed flower that we saw in the annata wine. It appears more prominently here, and with more shape and focused intensity. Make no mistake, Giacomo Neri builds wines for pleasure and sensual impact, and this wine ticks all those boxes. But it also shows floral elegance and sour cherry freshness that defies our expectations of the vintage. (96) MONICA LARNER, www.robertparker.com

    Francois Carillon Puligny Montrachet 2022

OUTSTANDING - Cool but ripe aromas include those of mostly apple and acacia blossom along with an interesting hint of tangerine peel. There is solid size, weight and mid-palate density to the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that easily buffers the moderately firm acid spine shaping the youthfully austere yet sneaky long finale. BURGHOUND

FIVE STARS - François is fortunate enough to have 5.85 hectares of Puligny-Montrachet from six plots. He is planning some parcellaire cuvées in 2023. We are back to finesse with this wine. The 2022 Puligny is beautifully aromatic, with all the floral character one could hope for. This has a brilliantly light touch despite the energy and the intensity. I think it is going to be a show stopper. Excellent natural acidity as well. JASPER MORRIS MW

A blend of four parcels and matured in 30% new oak, the 2020 Meursault Village has a fresh and well-defined bouquet with orange zest, honeysuckle and light white flower aromas. This is much more precise than the ‘19 tasted last year. The palate is taut and crisp on the entry, a twist of sour lemon lending tension and counterbalancing the richness on the finish. This is also agreeably cool and airy with its aromas of essence of wet stone, apple compote and pretty citrus wisps. Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino 2019
Showing the intensity and concentration of the vintage but also the finesse that’s the hallmark of this storied estate, the 2019 Fuligni is a stunner. It opens with aromas of camphor, violet, dog rose and spice while the full-bodied, enveloping palate delivers succulent black cherry, crushed raspberry, dried mint and licorice alongside velvety tannins. Boasting a weightless elegance, it closes on a note of almond liqueur. Drink 2029–2039. (97) KERIN O'KEEFE

With dark fruit balanced out by savory notes of tobacco leaf or cigar ash, the Fuligni 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is rich and beautifully concentrated. In little time, the bouquet reveals a floral interlude with dried rose petal and a tropical note of hibiscus. This wine shows a lot of angles, all very pleasant, that work together. Made with fruit from the estate's oldest vines and aged in French barrique, the Siro Pacenti 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Vecchie Vigne has a spicy note with cardamom or cinnamon over a bold bouquet that is darkly enriched with all kinds of black and purple fruits. You get a hint of eucalyptus or rosemary that underlines a medicinal side to this wine. To the palate, this vintage is slightly more accessible for sure, but the house style prizes concentration and bold tannic structure that will give you runway for aging. There is a hint of dustiness or chalkiness on the tannins. (95) ERIC GUIDO

Casanova di Neri Tenuta Nuova Brunello di Montalcino 2019

In my mind, this is the wine that best represents the Casanova di Neri house style. With 30 months of aging in tonneaux, it shows enormous richness and texture, and the stellar fruit quality appears with more primary elegance compared to the more expensive Cerretalto that is released with an extra year of aging. That dynamic is especially pronounced in a comparison of the 2019 and 2018 vintages. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova has a dark vein of toasted spice, black fruit, ink, blackberry compote, licorice and star anise. Dark as night, it is exceptionally well crafted with a robust delivery of concentrated fruit and solid tannic structure. You can count on excellent cellar potential, or at a minimum, serve it with a classic steak.  (97) MONICA LARNER, Wine Advocate

    Review on a previous release
Proving superior Blanc de Blancs is quite possible in the Aube's Pinot Noir paradise, this opens with lemon cream and persistent white chocolate and nougat through the palate. Querciabella Camartina 2008

The 2008 Camartina (70% Cabernet Sauvignon,30% Sangiovese) comes across as rather understated in this vintage. Dark fruit, spices, leather and tobacco are some of the aromas and flavors that take shape in the glass. Mineral notes appear later to frame the long, vibrant finish. The 2008 shows lovely balance in a relatively subdued style for this wine. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

Happy days for me when I can taste Cabernet and Italian wine in the one glass. Two worlds collide.  Black and red fruit, chocolate and licorice, florals and fine spicy oak treatment. It’s firm and medium bodied, almost tense with a slight jaggedness to its grainy tannin and crisp acidity – though it feels clearly defined and lively. Has a subtle green tobacco note along with leather that lends it an Italian drawing room charm. Needs a bit of time to settle down, but a lovely stylish wine it is. GARY WALSH, The Wine Front

Maturing ruby with orange tinges. Gorgeous cherry and cassis nose with notes of undergrowth, and with plenty of energy. Tar, tannic grip and pure cherry and cassis fruit. Acidity adds a real sense of freshness while streamlining the whole. Tasted 03/18 WALTER SPELLER, JancisRobinson.com

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the 2003 Camartina is a drop-dead gorgeous effort. Fat, rich and opulent, it will reward consumers with its generous super-ripe fruit, great length and beautiful overall balance...It is a very refined effort in this vintage. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

Even though this is 17 years old, the colour is still an amazingly deep garnet even if the rim is now transparent. Oo, that is rather lovely! Lots of evolution and subtlety, with a hint of quite attractive dustiness, on the nose. It does taste very much more like mature Cabernet (even Bordeaux) than anything informed by Sangiovese. Dry (but not drying) finish and really appetising – perhaps that's thanks to the Sangiovese. So it's all Cab on the nose and possibly Sangiovese on the finish. Long and playful. Tasted 5/22 WALTER SPELLER, JancisRobinson.com

Lifted spice and a head-spinning top note are joined by aromas of dark fruits, cassis and a touch of bright cherry mixed with woodland undergrowth. I love the ebullient personality of this wine - there's a crunchy, sappy green note to the juicy fruit which adds a counterpoint to the lush, velvety texture and creates a lovely, bright energy. It all comes together with an expressive exuberance. A wide-awake wine! DECANTER

  41. Querciabella Camartina 2015
    Querciabella Camartina 2015
Querciabella's flagship Camartina is flat-out stunning. Camartina is not a huge wine, as so many are in 2015, rather it possesses extraordinary finesse and elegance. Sweet floral notes, red berry fruit, mint and chalk notes give the 2015 soaring top notes, energy and vibrancy. Beautifully persistent and sculpted, the 2015 dazzles with its energy and overall intensity. There is so much to like here. ANTONIO GALLONI, Vinous

One of the first SuperTuscans, Querciabella’s Camartina delivers generous, sophisticated dark fruit, smoothly packaged in a smart oak wrap. Its dense, soft, dark core rewards plenty of bottle age, while its moreishness urges you to pick up the corkscrew and decant rather than delay gratification. DECANTER

This is very racy and firm on the palate, yet the exotic and wild fruit of the beautiful vintage comes through. Medium-to full-bodied with an intense finish. Needs a few years to soften. Cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese. Better in 2020.  JAMES SUCKLING

  42. Fontodi Flaccianello 2019
    Fontodi Flaccianello 2019
The 2019 Flaccianello della Pieve is another stunning wine that sums up the character of the vintage and reflects the sun-drenched beauty of its quintessentially Tuscan surroundings. Giovanni Manetti and his team have two new important wines in the works, but Flaccianello remains an old love and a wine that hits the highest marks for quality consistency vintage after vintage. I tasted this wine next to the 100-point 2016 vintage for friendly comparison, and perhaps the main difference is that the tannins are finer and more accessible in this bottle. It offers rich concentration and layers of dark fruit that wrap thickly over the senses. Tannin management is an active pursuit. Time in barrique has been reduced over the years in favor of a final six-month resting period in larger oak casks. In fact, the barrel room was recently enlarged to give more room to these bigger vessels. The 2019 vintage recalls the balance of 2001 with the freshness of 2013. However, 2019 is more profound. William Fevre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2022

DON'T MISS - A toasty nose features notes of smoky grilled shellfish, pear and algae. The dense and equally serious larger-scaled flavors don't have quite the same power yet they are clearly more refined on the markedly bitter citrus zest finish that displays outstanding length. This is exceptionally classy and while it too could use more depth, that is all but assured if given a chance. BURGHOUND

Open, almost delicate aromatics. Supple, concentrated - but with a large growth of great flavour, lots of salinity, ultra complex and large finishing. This is a baby, I think there's much more to come. BILL NANSON

  46. Vilmart Coeur de Cuvee 2015
    Vilmart Coeur de Cuvee 2015
80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir from vines averaging 60 years old, the wine spends nearly 6 years on lees. Most importantly only the heart of the pressing is taken - 1400 litres instead of the usual 2100 litres, hence the name 'coeur de cuvee.'
The 2015 Brut Coeur de Cuvée is a pretty dense wine that belies its deceptively mid-weight structure. What surprises me most about the 2015 is how closed it is. In most years, especially warm years, Coeur de Cuvée is quite a bit more open and voluptuous, but the 2015 does not come across like that at all. Rather, it is super-classic in bearing, with tons of gravitas from the 60-year-old vines just waiting to emerge. There are none of the awkward herbal notes that penalize so many wines. Bright saline notes extend the finish effortlessly. The 2015 is a brilliant Coeur de Cuvée. ANTONIO GALLONI
