Youthfully coiled, the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino requires coaxing to unlock its youthful state, as swirling unleashes nuances of dried roses, black cherries, cedar dust and sage. This is pure seduction on the palate, deeply sensual with dense waves of ripe red berry fruits and a nearly creamy feel, all balanced by vibrant acidity. It leaves the senses stained in primary concentration as an array of sweet tannins frames a slight balsamic tinge that adds a lovely punctuation to the experience. The 2021 is flat-out stunning and geared up for a long evolution. Le Potazzine has secured itself as one of the top Brunello producers vintage after vintage. (98) ERIC GUIDO

Aromas of lavender, eucalyptus, wild berry and dark exotic spice form the lovely nose on the stunning Le Potazzine 2021 Brunello. Loaded with class and a rich finesse, the palate delivers layers of ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, licorice and fine tobacco blend. It's nicely balanced, with taut, well integrated tannins and fresh acidity.  (97) KERIN O'KEEFE

The 2021 shows why this house is one of Montalcino's elite: Bergamot, violets, sour cherry, a hint of tobacco and leather. Dense, velvety tannins that carry instead of blocking, a vibrant acidity that gives the wine tension and length. Not a wine for the impatient - but one that rewards those who give it time. Or as Gigliola says: "I am not interested in producing excellent wines without soul. There are already enough of them in the world. SUPERIORE

Pouring a jeweled ruby red hue, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino is pure and resonant on the nose, with notes of raspberry liqueur, lavender, forest earth, and licorice. The palate leans full-bodied without weight, filling the mouth with ripe, muscular tannins, refreshing acidity, and a long finish that carries noble structure and a gravelly richness of texture. It's a fabulous Brunello from the 2021 vintage that should have no problem aging 15-20 years. AUDREY FRICKE, jebdunnuck.com

Lustrous youthful crimson. Dark and complex and still a little closed with the subtlest hint of garden mint. Succulent and suave red fruit with firm but finely ground tannins. Still a little unsettled and embryonic but has stunning balance. WALTER SPELLER, jancisrobinson.com
