I really love how Mark doesn't shy away from the natural strength of fruit that Beechworth delivers. He celebrates the region he loves and it shows clearly here.
It's a touch riper, more fleshy, more substantial than some previous renditions. Initially it's all boldness and volume then it sucks back in, turns more angular and focused. Zippy. Bursting with primary, juicy, grilled meyer lemon, grapefruit, freshness that stains your mouth with a peach skin like furriness, the extract acting as a bit of a buffer to the fairly intense and reasonably large scaled fruit. Super understated winemaking, super fruit handled just right. You know it's just in that sweet spot. Not skinny, edgy chard and not big old busty chard. It's got size and flavour with energy and tension. Almost like the dude in charge was a viticulturalist and thinking about fruit first… What a great chardonnay with real flavour and substance. Imma drink a metric tonne of this wine. ROSCOE
