A sparkling blend of pinot noir, chardonnay and pinot meunier, base wine from '21 and '22, tirage June '22, disgorgement June '24. Pale straw with a fine, energetic bead and mousse. Sinewy and briny with green apple, grapefruit and lemon fruit notes and a lovely manzanilla-like top note. Hints of crushed shell, proving dough, white flowers, ozone and lemon shortbread. Sapid and lip-smacking with a great briny driveline, finish dry and thirst-slaking with a sherbet and lemon slice blast on the exit. (94) DAVE BROOKES, Halliday Wine Companion
There’s no lot or batch number on this, which is annoying in terms of doing a review. Anyway, I think it’s a new wine, so given that this is the only one currently on the market, I think I can progress.
Distinct brine and Manzanilla-like character, ripe lemon and green apple, yeast and flowers. It’s dry and saline, the texture is firm and chalky, there’s a thirst-slaking bite of acidity, a lovely tickle of delicate bubbles, and a steely dry finish of excellent length.
