    NUMBER 7 - JAMES HALLIDAY'S TOP 100 AUSTRALIAN WINES

TOP VALUE! - A powerhouse of a wine, yet with precision etched all over. There are so many layers to this; where to start? Well, how about with the flinty, funky reduction that's scintillating, flavours of grapefruit and lemon, cedary spicy oak, not too much, and the fleck of herbs. This is super tight and pure, with the acidity cinching everything in and leading it out to a long, persistent finish. A cracking chardonnay. (97) JANE FAULKNER, James Halliday's Wine Companion

Another excellent release with a touch of sun and a now cult-like following. Reductive-edged aromas of struck match, grapefruit, crushed stones and a steely, almost metallic polish. The palate is tightly wound but a little more generous and open, reflecting the warmer vintage, with searing acidity, generous fruit and high tension. Truly excellent. (97) JAMES SUCKLING

TROPHY! - Enchanting aromas of cool flint, grapefruit zest, and a whisper of cinnamon. Sleek poached pears and deliciously ripe peach create a harmonious balance on the palate. The sturdy finish leaves a lasting impression of vibrant energy and alluring complexity. (97) IWSC
