Here’s a very good introduction to the viognier whites. Full peach and apricot aromas are married to a generous body and lively acidity. Some positive tannins at the finish. Grown at 250 meters altitude on a site that faces west with sandy granitic soil with a bit of loess. Vinified in stainless steel with sur lie aging. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold. STUART PIGOTT, JamesSuckling.com
From a granitic site near Michel's home in Ardeche, the 2021 IGP Collines Rhodaniennes La Combe Pilate Viognier is spicy, floral and perfumed, as it should be, with hints of nutmeg, cassia, anise, melon and orange blossom. Made in stainless steel, it's medium-bodied and richly textured, with a long, spice-driven finish. JOE CZERWINSKI, The Wine Advocate
