Details

This is really minerally, with slate, crushed stone and subtle sliced apple aromas and flavors that build on a medium body with lovely fruit, tension and brightness. Drink or hold. Screw cap. (95) JAMES SUCKLING

The 2024 Trelinnoe Chardonnay is a two-and-a-half-barrel blend from the Trellinoe vineyard. The terraces were damaged in the 2023 cyclone, and the yields are extremely low. The wine is made from Clone 95 (Kaikora Vineyard is Clone 15, Two Terraces Vineyard is Clone 548), and the wine is linear and tightly coiled, wrapped around a core of briny acidity. White peach, preserved lemon rind, crispy green apple and a spice mix of fennel/clove/star anise lace the perimeter.
