Zind Humbrecht Grand Crus 2024

Long a leader in Alsace, Olivier Humbrecht’s biodynamically farmed wines reflect the traits of the man. In general they are large and powerful, but also deep and complex, representing a great deal of thought, nuance and hard work. Any Zind-Humbrecht Riesling is worth seeking out (as are the non-Riesling wines like Gewurztraminer and Pinot Blanc) from the basic blend to the epic single vineyards from grand Cru sites like Brand and rangen. RAJ PARR, The Sommelier’s Atlas of Taste

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht is one of the world’s most famous white wine estates, producing a bevy of world-class bottlings that have very few peers in their respective categories. IAN D’AGATA, Vinous

Zind-Humbrecht Rieslings are gigantically fresh wines and this freshness is married to an astonishing intensity of expression. Each wine is entirely itself, absolutely original in the way a great work of art is (which is the kind of originality that defines a great work of art), as dazzlingly bright as a newly born star. STUART PIGOTT

The Grand Cru wines of Alsace and in particular the wines of Zind-Humbrecht are some of the most transparent and detailed aromatic whites out there. The wines from the single-vineyard sites in particular have all the breeding to be some of the most complex white wines in the world…GAVIN SMITH

2024 releases: the wines are crystalline beauties from top to bottom. ANNE KREBIEL

2024 is turning out to be a classic Alsace vintage with elegant fresh structures and a good to very good ageing potential. Valley floor vineyards produced a good quantity of grapes, hillsides, especially granitic/volcanic soils, showed slightly lower to very low yields. OLIVIER HUMBRECHT MW

When Michael was finalising our allocation for 2024 Zind Humbrecht, Olivier Humbrecht couldn’t emphasize enough how he loved this vintage for its elegance. After a string of warm vintages, 2024 is a return to the more classically styled aromatic whites of Alsace Royalty, Zind Humbrecht.

The only downside to 2024 are the yields, this is amongst our smallest allocation ever. A tiny allocation combined with a mass following means these will fly out even quicker than they usually do. Previous supporters only are receiving this initial offer, so if you’ve reading it you know the original and thrilling wines of Zind Humbrecht. As Ian D’agata says, ‘Zind-Humbrecht is one of the world’s most famous white wine estates, producing a bevy of world-class bottlings that have very few peers.’

To the the 2024 vintage, much needed rain replenished the dry soils but then it kept coming. However, the revered Grand Cru Sites of Zind Humbrecht played to their strengths. Borne from slopes of granite, limestone and volcanic-derived soils, drainage wasn’t problem. They’re more cool-fruited and sleek in their outlook, they are some of the best white wines in the world and time in the cellar is their best friend. They’re so pent up and high on life early, with age they emerge from their chrysalis.

To mirror the terroir fanatics the Humbrechts are, the offer has been laid out according to their Grand Cru Vineyards. I've also included notes on the vineyards from wine critic Youhan Castaing.

Cheers
