Course Details
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is
intended for those with little previous experience in the field of wine.
Students will be introduced to the main styles of wines produced by key grape
varieties and a specific number of regions. By the end of the course a student
will know, simply by reading a wine label, what most wine tastes like.
The course is suitable for people who are not employed in the drinks industry
but wish to learn more about the subject. However, it is important that
potential students appreciate that this is primarily a professional development
course for the hospitality industry.
The ONLINE course is based around a
five-week, six-module online programme with a recommendation of 6 hours study
per week to cover the online activities and read the relevant chapters in the
textbook. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is
essential for this mode of study.
Students may complete the course
at their own pace during the course dates, though it is recommended that one
module is completed per week, plus two in the final week.
A WSET
nominated educator will touch base with the class, made up of students from
around the globe, once per week via email and group video chat.
Wine tasting is optional for the ONLINE Level 2 course, as it is not examinable.
There is an optional wine pack of 10 bottles to complement the course for an additional $300.
Wines in the pack will vary depending on stock available.
Alternatively, students may request a list of wine specifications and may
source their own.
