The 2021 Blaufränkisch Prellenkirchen Samt & Seide was made from 10-35-year-old vines from around 15 parcels along the mid-slope of the Spitzerberg. Beautiful, dark fruit shimmers with red berry and pomegranate juiciness, promising freshness and verve. The palate is its fine-boned self, agile, bright and articulate. It's alive with a pepperiness and structured tannins that crunch like starched silk. It is absolutely approachable, savory, and red-fruited, but it is also a candidate for lying down.
