Two Hands Wines
The hands in question are those of SA businessmen Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz, Michael in particular having extensive experience in marketing Australian wine in the US (for other producers). On the principle that if big is good, bigger is better, the style of the wines has been aimed squarely at the palate of Robert Parker Jr and Wine Spectators Harvey Steiman. Grapes are sourced from the Barossa Valley (where the business has 15ha of shiraz), McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, Langhorne Creek and Padthaway. The retention of cork closures, the emphasis on sweet fruit, and the soft tannin structure all signify the precise marketing strategy of what is a very successful business. JAMES HALLIDAY
