Vermouth has a long and fascinating history that beautifully blurs the lines of apothecary, art, and medicine. The word “vermouth” is derived from the German word for “wormwood”, which still remains one of vermouth’s primary infused botanicals. Throughout Asia and mainland Europe, its use spread down the millennia predominantly as a medicinal and ceremonial drink while today the modern-day evolution we have been witness to sees more and more diverse styles from around the world making their way to cocktail cabinets, back bars, and wine store shelves alike.
Today the choice we enjoy here is staggering. We have personally been watching this category grow with eager interest and excitement each time a new vermouth comes across our desk whether home-grown, from its home in Turin, or from the brilliant takes that are being turned out from around the globe. It's a kaleidoscope of aromas and flavours in a playful and vivacious drink that is a chameleon on the table and a superstar of the world of cocktails.
However you have it we are stoked to be bringing you the second installment to our popular 2019 vermouth tasting. We are putting focus on some specialty-crafted styles from Australia as well as a range of classic Italian and Spanish bottlings and even some great examples from Germany. It will be the perfect opportunity to sip the day away.
