Tenuta Il Palagio

Located a short drive north east of Siena Tenuta Il Palagio was purchased by Sting and Trudie Tyler in the late 1990's, they immediatley began a lengthy restoration of the property and vineyards. In 2000 11 hectares of sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, caraiolo, colorino vineyards were planted using organic, and then later bio-dynamic principles by viticulturist Alan York. All the wines are made under the guidance of consultant oenologist Paolo Caciorgna, whose pedegree includes appointments at Tamellini, Terruzzi and consulting roles alongside Alberto Antonini and Atilio Pagli. Tenuta Il Palagio wines are made in modern style, polished yet strike a balance between varietal character and classic earthy Tuscan nuance.
