Tenuta di Fessia

Even after just 6 vintages, winemaker and owner Federico Curtaz, along with other owners Silvia Maestrelli and Roberto Silva, has created a winery which continually delivers some of the best wines made in Sicily. Of Gaja fame, Curtaz moved to Sicily after falling in love with one of the oldest vineyards in the region; Nerello Mascalese from Etna. The group bought it and now focus on producing the native varieties, Nerello and Nero d’Avola for the reds, and Carricante for the superb Etna Bianco. PWS

These are without question the finest wines I have tasted from Tenuta di Fessina, a new estate that is moving in the right direction. Federico Curtaz, who made his name managing Angelo Gaja’s vineyards is the winemaker. Tenuta di Fessina is one of the most exciting emerging properties in the Etna landscape. ANTONIO GALLONI
