Punt Road / Airlie Bank
Yarra Valley
Young Gun of Wine 2017 Top 50
Tim is on fire at Punt Road. His 2015 Punt Road Shiraz racking up accolades at wine shows, and his Airlie Bank range provides phenomenal wines for the price, where the Cabernet Franc is a particular darling of sommeliers.
Tim Shand
Tim came to the Yarra Valley with vintages under his belt at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy and Château Margaux in Bordeaux, as well as stints in Chianti, Oregon and Chile. Since then he had a hand in some of the region’s headline-grabbing wines of recent times during his tenure at Giant Steps before taking the helm at Punt Road in 2014. Tim and the team are making most of the freedom to push boundaries while making the most of the excellent fruit the Yarra Valley gives rise to.
Punt Road
Punt Road is a 150 acre vineyard near Coldstream in the Yarra Valley. The 140 acres of apples and pears also on this property produce the Napoleone ciders.
There have been wine-grapes grown here off and on since 1859, when the De Castella family settled here from Switzerland.
Now, we aim to produce wines off our site that respect the lineage of the vineyard, but push the envelope as hard as possible in the search for smashability and interest.
