The hottest winery in Veneto? Well, there are several. But one of them is without question Marion. Stefano and Nicoletta Campedelli run this impeccable small estate on the eastern outskirts of Verona. The wines reflect the artisan side of Valpolicella and are loaded with personality. The Marion Amarone is one of the top wines in Veneto, it's as simple as that. ANTONIO GALLONI
Named in the top 4 Amarone estates of the region alongside Dal Forno, Rocco Grassi and Quintarelli by Galloni. Amarone is still an acquired taste, usually due to the price tag attached. Marion are a great producer who can walk you through the tiered production of wine from the Valpolicella region with strength of character and precision. The first batch of fruit picked are immediately crushed and fermented to make the aperitivo style, Classico, a light, high acid wine. Amarone is another beast all together. The older vines are picked and fruit is left to rest in the winery during winter, reducing them to dry raisins. If this experiement pulls off, Amarone is classified. A huge risk for small producers, hence why there are only a few greats we choose to follow.
