Levrier Anubis offers lush currants and raspberries, tobacco, cedar and mocha. In the mouth it is full, with nice interplay between the rich fruit and the firm Cabernet tannins. It is a wine that will hold this balance for many years but is so pleasurable now.
Levrier means Greyhound in French. It is the winery of Jo Irvine, who is a second-generation winemaker and lover of Greyhounds (as you’ll see from the labels). From her Barossa Valley base of operation, Jo makes a range of reds that are rich, dense and intense. Jo also makes some whites from the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills. PHIL SMITH
