Le Vignoble du Reveur
The name Le Vignoble du Reveur probably isn’t ringing any bells, that’s ok it was a new one on me as well. Mattieu Deiss has started a new project in Alsace working with strict Biodynamic principles and focusing on exploring and highlighting some of the best vineyards in the region. While his name may not be well known yet his Father, legendary Alsatian figure Marcel Deiss certainly is. Matthieu retains his day job along side his dad in their vineyards and winery but, as it would play out he inherited property from his maternal grandfather and, much like his dad back in the day, has begun to branch out and explore what these sites can offer. There is no question that he inherited both his fathers talent and also his curiosity. He is now producing single site wines along a more non-interventionalist line and, again following in his father’s colossal footsteps, pushing the boundaries for what we can expect from his region. The wines I have seen so far have tremendous flair, they are full of personality, a little wild but in the best possible fashion. They are sensational and I think we will be seeing a lot more of these wines. ROSCOE
