Lamoresca

After years of working the other side of the wine fence in retail and restaurants, Filippo (and wife Nancy) Rizzo returned to Sicily's interior to start their own small estate, Lamoresca. The property totals only 11 hectares with just 4 under vine and is located 450 metres above sea level between Etna and Gela on the South coast.

Everything here has been started from scratch with the two protaganists planting and building everything by hand, driven by a passion to make natural wines from organic fruit. To that end, Filippo spent sveeral vintages working with Sicilian natural guru, Frank Cornelissen so his philosophy is driven by the same motivating factors and the set of wines has already gained considerable acclaim around the world. The reds are made from a mix of Nero d'Avola, Grenache and Frappato and the whites comes from Rousanne and the local clone of Vermentino. The wines are fermented without temperature control and no sulphur is used at any stage.

The range is excellent value for money and at each level they offer authentic expressions of the vineyard. Great value too!
