Jean Velut

Jean Velut is a tiny grower in what is sadly a lesser known villages of Champagne, Montgueux. The area is known for its incredible Chardonnay which grows on chalky, limestone soils lending an almost Chablis like aspect to the fruit. For many a year most of the fruit was sold off to the big houses for their marquee wines but a few staunch growers produce their own wines, one such is Velut who farmes his tiny 7 hectare property along organic principles. All the wines are made in stainless steel here to preserve the purity and unique expression of this special Terroir. ROSCOE
