Hither & Yon

Brothers Richard and Malcolm Leask arrived as youngsters in McLaren Vale in the 1970s, following a family move from the Hunter Valley. Since father Ian Leask established the first family vineyard in 80, a further six sites spread across McLaren Vale have been added. Currently 13 varieties are planted over 90ha, with more plantings planned. In 2011 Richard and Malcolm started the Hither Yon label, focusing on small single-vineyard parcels, which change each year depending on the vintage and site. Richard manages all the vineyards and makes the wines, Malcolm handles production, sales and the historic cellar door. The labels feature the brands ampersand, created by a different artist for each wine. JAMES HALLIDAY
