This release is both a beauty, and not for everyone. It’s complex and fascinating and more than a little mesmerising. I can honestly say that I loved the time I spent with it. But it also has notes of truffle and heightened blackcurrant, and not everyone appreciates said flavours. We move on. We’re swept forward. The licorice, the leather, the lace of stem and tannin. It feels cool climate and warm climate at once, in a beautiful way. It rocks and it rolls. It will mature beautifully, perhaps even profoundly, its rolls of complex flavour gradually unfurled and unveiled. CAMPBELL MATTINSON www.winefront.com.au May 2015

The 2010 is a composed, precise, yet rich wine - Hill of Grace at its finest. It's bursting with an array of dark brown spice and pepper, the fruits cover tones from red to blue and darker purple notes, reflecting the various components within the vineyard. But it's the tannin texture, the length and the layering of the palate that really captivate. It is so soft on the surface, so smooth and polished, yet the power and length are undeniable, holding seemingly endlessly on the finish. Bathed in plum and cherry fruit, mocha and toasted spices, this will age superbly, in fact, it's some years away from revealing its full impressive potential.
