Freycinet

The Freycinet vineyards are beautifully situated on the sloping hillsides of a small valley. The soils are brown dermosol on top of Jurassic dolerite, and the combination of aspect, slope, soil and heat summation produces red grapes with unusual depth of colour and ripe flavours. One of Australias foremost producers of pinot noir, with an enviable track record of consistency rare in such a temperamental variety. The Radenti (sparkling), Riesling and Chardonnay are also wines of the highest quality. In 2012 Freycinet acquired a portion of the neighbouring Coombend property from Brown Brothers. The 42ha property extends to the Tasman Highway, and also includes a 5.75ha mature vineyard and a 4.2ha olive grove. JAMES HALLIDAY
