Fatalone

Fatalone is one of the pletora of small artisanal estates emerging from the bulk wine ruck that has been (and still mostly is) the Puglian wine scene. The estate has been producing grapes since the 1800s but it wasn't unitl 1987 that the first estate bottling happened. Since then the next generation - Pasquale Petrera - has taken over and the vineyard and winemaking has accelerated their push for purity and quality. The vineyards are certified organic and every effort is made to keep things as non-interventionist as possible in the cellars. Most fermentation are completed in stainless steel and any oak ageing is done in large old Slavonian oak.

The main game here is the Primitivo but the specific clonal variation of the sub-zone, Gioia del Colle, which can deliver slightly less high-octane versions of the variety. In addition they also produce a Greco form the local incarnation of the variety.
