2022 Vintage: Once again, Eva's waiting and viticulture was rewarded: "We were able to harvest juicy, light and energetic Rieslings from Eltville, Kiedrich and Lorch that radiate with lightness and freshness—just like the vines, which gratefully absorbed the intense rainfall." Entire areas that were still yellow in August, lit up in mid-September in a rich green that Eva has rarely seen before… "Our grapes from the 2022 vintage had an incredibly fine and ripe aroma, so that the early start to the harvest was not a problem from our point of view. On the contrary, it shows that natural cultivation gives our vines more room to adapt to the natural conditions." Eva Fricke’s assault on the Rheingau continues with her penetrating 2022s. Her Midas touch to turn unworkable sites into rieslings humming with energy and clarity is beyond peer in the Rheingau.  Her principles are clear and precise, just like her wines.

2022 was a warm and dry vintage, though the wines aren’t opulent. Anne Krebiehl MW says, they ‘show slender elegance.’ Saving rains coincided with harvest, and with nerves of steel, Fricke decided to pick after the rain, a smart decision reflected in her vivid 2022 rieslings. 
 
We’ve been spruiking her wines for a few years, she has a frenzied following the world over. Most of her sites are steep and rocky along the Rheingau River, rising around the town of Lorch. Fricke has revitalised historic plots through hard toil and a different perspective, making the old vineyards around Lorch once again a hot commodity.  Her brilliant wines have inspired many other growers to follow suit. Both her vines and the purity of her fruit pulsate with vitality, thanks to her organic and biodynamic farming methods.

The 22’s are riveting.  Their racy frameworks are laden with power yet delivered with elegance in silky textures. They’re dripping with a saline minerality.  In their youth, their liquid electricity will invigorate and excite. Time in the cellar will tame their neurotic natures and build texture.
