This will be a fairly informal gig. Sit down, taste a bracket of extremely exciting new wines. A chat about the producer, the season, the region, the wines. Those attending the tasting will have the first access to these wines. Wines Elk Cove Clay Court Pinot Noir 2021 Both more spicy and more earthy than the previous siblings. A roasted beet type thing melds with the sweet baking spices, slightly mulchy/forest aromas, and brighter red fruits. More reticent at first. It's a subtle wine of many fine and nuanced details. In the middle of the impressive line-up you may, at first, overlook this, which would be a terrible shame as there is so much waiting in store here. A fairly obvious mineral twang adds freshness and another complexing agent on the finish. It's long and really fans out as it runs the length of the palate, becoming a little more lush and a degree more opulent throughout, hinting at the joy buried within. Beautiful wine. ROSCOE Elk Cove Five Mountain Pinot Noir 2021 As Gab said "five mountains = five spice". Like the Goodrich the spices here are evident and add savoury detail to the otherwise super fresh and vibrant profile of this wonderfully engaging wine. There is more than ample volume here and the phenolics really kick in to gear, drawing it back in on itself after the initial rush of cool fruit. Perfectly managed tannins and loads of power that is underscored by fresh edged but not insubstantial fruit. The overall impression is of a rather imposing young wine that will require a little more time than some of its siblings to really pop, but the potential for a great drink is all there. ROSCOE Elk Cove Goodrich Pinot Noir 2021 Subtle spice and wood is evident but in no means detracts from the rather enticing aromatics. Smoky, incense and deeply pitched, upfront fruit but overall the style is mid weight and fragrant with a bitter cherry clip that carries the fruit along a fine and detailed palate. Long and precise wine with ample grip and muscle, those bunchy elements help to contour and shape things while little bursts of minerality pique the interest. I don't know, think Pommard with a little more sensuality. ROSCOE Elk Cove La Boheme Pinot Noir 2021 More slick and supple here with a really fine, filigreed phenolic profile that holds the wine steady as the more generous and plush, dark berry like characters push through. It's gloriously fruited and feels really pure of expression, the wood melting in to the sumptuous palate. I think this will age gracefully on the back of the overall sense of harmony. Seamless and silken. ROSCOE Elk Cove Mt Richmond Pinot Noir 2021 Almost a cherry cola, in a good way, note to the otherwise fruitful and perfumed nose. Here the wine fills the mouth with tonnes of personality and intensity. In saying that, it isn't of the same magnitude of the Five Mountains but it is no less impressive for the slick and seductive delivery. There is plenty of structure and tannic heft but it is subsumed by the lip smacking, sweet, sultry fruit. I would expect this to really evolve beautifully over time but also have the most open drinking window as well. Glorious stuff. ROSCOE
