Dominio do Bibei
The real spirit of the Ribera Sacra and of the terroir-driven approach of Dominio do Bibei is embodied by their two more friut-driven and straightforward wines,n Lpola (white) and Lalama (red). THE FINEST WINES OF RIOJA, Barquin, Gutierrez & de La Serna
Ribeira Sacra is one of the most exciting regions to emerge from Spain in recent years. This remote, rugged and arid landscape is situated in the North-Eastern corner of Galicia. Here, Domino do Bibei's winemaker, Javier Domínguez is producing striking wines from Mencia, Garnacha and Muraton as well as native white varietals.
Built on steep, old terraces Dominio do Bibei is a 125-hectare estate with approximately 45 hectares planted to vines. Javier vision of austerity and tradition reflected in his winemaking with no stainless-steel tanks; only wood or cement while the estate follows the ideas of biodynamic viticulture to obtain the purest expression of this terroir. The grapes are grown on various rocky schist and granite slopes with little top soil and are hand-harvested and fed through a gravity system.
The union of philosophy, winemaking, and terroir culminate to create thoughtful wines that are not only a pleasure to drink but excite the senses through their extraordinary purity and detail. PWS
