compelling value as world-class wines go. JOSH RAYNOLDS

The Clos Mireille is superb and uncompromising in its balance. Provence Rosé at its finest. BILLY NORRIS, Vinous Media

Complexity and shear depth make the Chateau Romassan impossible to ignore ERIC GUIDO
In 2004, Louis Roederer purchased a controlling stake in Domaines Ott from the Ott family, but to this day, cousins Christian and Jean-François Ott continue to manage the three estates involved: Clos Mireille, Château Romassan and Château de Selle. While prices are high, the quality bar is too.

It’s always pleasing to find out at the end of a blind tasting that some of the wines that really wowed you were ones that already have an established reputation because it confirms that such wines are genuinely great. And Domaines Ott’s Clos Mireille Rosé is a brilliant example. A pioneer in top-end, beautifully packaged, expertly crafted Provençal pale pink wine, Domaines Ott is still at the top of the game with this classic and delicious expression. Loaded with peach and pink grapefruit flavours, and a wonderful texture that starts with fresh fruit, moves into a riper, oilier feeling, and finishes with a soft but dry chalky sensation, this is a very fine glass of wine. The vine needs time. And men that work with wine sometimes devote their entire lives to it. So it was and has remained with Marcel Ott, his children and his grandchildren. The date: 1896. Ott, an Alsatian agricultural engineer with a pioneer spirit, set out to create a wine-producing estate. First attempts: in the region of Cavalaire. It was in 1912, however, at Château de Selle, Le Clos Mireille, and later at Château Romassan, also located in the Var, that this great family adventure was ultimately launched. Long years of patience and effort! As early as 1930, the "Coeur de Grain" rosé made its way over the border. PWS
