de Vogue
A brilliant career as a wine writer awaits long-time oenologist Francois Millet should he ever tire of making wine. Millet's visual descriptions of vintages and wines are among the most colourful I have ever encountered. The truth is that these wines need no words at all; the quality of what is in the glass speaks for itself far more eloquently than words ever could. ANTONIO GALLONI
De Vogue is a domaine that needs little introduction to collectors. This venerable estate is one of the few that has remained with the same family for centuries (dating back to 1450) and in its current incarnation has been one of the leading producers in the region since it began bottling at the domaine along with the very first group of producers to do so. What makes this estate even more remarkable is its holdings which include 7.25 hectares of Musigny (around 80% of the entire climat) and whopping 2.75 hectares of Bonnes Mares along with a sizeable piece of Amoureuses.
Along with their village holdings this makes them a powerhouse in Chambolle and at their best, given appropriate time in the cellar, these are hedonistic and engaging wines that represent the best of Burgundy. ROSCOE
