Cascina Fontana
In the tradition of Le Langhe the vineyards of Cascina Fontana are located across various communes. The Nebbiolo for Barolo is sourced predominately from parcels within the Castiglione Falletto Crus of Villero and Valletti; the Nebbiolo Langhe and the Barbera d’Alba are sourced from parcels in Pozzo (Castiglione Falletto) and Vigna del Castello (Sinio. The different varieties are planted at varying altitudes and exposures and on a variety of soils to achieve optimum quality and distinctive wines.
I am a traditional wine producer. My aim is to express in my wines the full gusto della mia terra – to convey as purely and directly as possible the tastes and flavours of my land. I do this by tending my grapes as carefully as I can, for they are the vehicle by which I am able to achieve this expression
For me, Barolo is not just a wine. It is part of my culture and my identity – it defines who I am and where I come from.…. Barolo seems to contain within it something of the spirit of the true man of Le Langhe. It has the same enduring forza – strength, dignità – dignity, and a character that is at once immensely hard, austere and honest. MARIO FONTANA
