Argiano

Argiano is one of the most impressive properties in the zone boasting magnificent buildings and over 100-hectares of varied farmland. There are currently 48 hectares devoted to vines on plots that face south and at an altitude of 500 metres above sea-level.

While the estate has always produced good to very good Brunello the last few years under the stewardship of new winemaker Hans Vinding-Diers have signalled a change which may very well re-establish this estate at the top of the Brunello tree. Amongst other things, Vinding-Diers has tightened yields and changed the fermentation and maturation regime, meaning the wine goes into small French oak for the first year of its life before being transferred to traditional Slavonian botti for the next 18 months. The idea being that the time in different oaks enhances the structure of the wine as well as keeping the flavours vivid. PWS
