It was way back in the seventies that Andrew and his brother David first purchased what was to become known at the Piper's Brook Vineyard, figuring it was a pretty good spot to make world class sparkling wines. The rest as they say is history as Andrew's wines grew to worldwide acclaim and put Tassie on the vinous map not only here in Australia, but also internationally as well. Andrew left Piper's Brook in 2003 leaving a remarkable legacy and reputation that still drives the demand for Tassie fizz today. After leaving Piper's Brook Andrew took his substantial wealth of knowledge and experience and planted a vineyard in a site he believes is of 'grand cru' quality. This was to be named Apogee, the label which he releases these wines under today. Those of you lucky enough to taste these bottlings in recent years will be able to bear witness as to just how incredible they are. While Champagne still drives the sparkling market in Australia, these single vineyard bottlings from Northern Tasmania we believe can not only stand toe-to-toe with many of the most esteemed cuvees from Champagne, but stand among the very best.
