A Warres & Symington Family Port Masterclass

Warre’s, under the Symington family, represents one of the great through-lines in Port—where centuries of tradition meet a quietly modern, precision-driven approach, always anchored by elegance and age-worthiness.

Established in 1670, Warre’s is one of the oldest British Port houses and widely regarded as the first to export Port commercially. From early on, it built a reputation for a drier, more elegant house style, often less overtly sweet than its peers. lt was a style that historically shaped the demand for Port towards a more refined expression built for long ageing rather than sheer weight.

Still a family-owned powerhouse, they trace their roots in Port back to the 19th century  from a Scottish, English and Portuguese lineage. Today, they farm over 1,000 hectares of vineyards, making them one of the largest vineyard owners in the Douro Valley. They are leaders in organic and regenerative viticulture in the Douro, and one of the most consistent producers in quality terms.

They remain among the benchmark producers in the Douro, both historically and today, and have been key players in the modern evolution of Port, maintaining relevance while respecting tradition through methods like foot stomping combined with world-class winemaking facilities across the Douro.

We can't tell you how excited we are for this one. Port is one of our big loves, and we feel it never gets the love it deserves… well, we are here to change that. We have Jorge Nunes joining us, ex-winemaker at Dow's, Warre’s Asia Pacific manager, and all-round Port and wine lover, to take us through a selection of still wines and several vintages of single Quinta du Vesuvio estate and a couple of Warre's vintage, LBV and outstanding Otima 10 year old.

We will be serving some light snacks and cheeses.
