The best Rosso we have seen to date from San Filippo. The balance here is a thing of beauty. Dark cherry layered up with sage, spice and sweet earth. The sweet, dense fruit packed to the brim with ripe, supple tannins. There's a wondeful push and pull between ripe, opulent fruit and an undercurrent of cool acidty and frame of tannins. There's a seriouness and polish to the wine but yet it remains remarakbly pliable and approachable. ALEX DOBSON, PWS

The Rosso here is Brunello in all but name. This is not a wine built from lesser plots or bought fruit. This all comes off the one property which is the namesake San Filippo with only the Le Lucere bottled as a separate vineyard. This is a wine that many in the region would happily and legally go bottled under a Brunello label. It offers incredible value and quality not often seen at this level.
